The crossroads
on the map
Three views of the same point, the centre of the crossroads: 45°28′22″ N · 9°07′08″ E, measured on the map. The OpenStreetMap map for the street names; the satellite for what is really there; the whole area with the places in the inventory. The images come from third-party services, with their licence, and are not copied into the site.
Map · the crossroads
The two streets, and their names
Via Novara runs east–west, via San Giusto cuts across it. To the north piazza Axum and the stadium, to the south the hospital. The map carries the street names, which aerial images do not have.

What is there, seen from above
The same point from the satellite: the long Harar blocks to the north-east, the hospital pavilions to the south, the green of the cutting. The red dot is the crossroads.

The two big plans, from above
North of the crossroads the stadium, where the GFU San Siro provides for the new venue next to the Meazza. To the south the Santa Barbara barracks and the Piazza d’Armi, where the memorandum of 23 December 2025 provides for about 80% of the area as park. Details in New stadium and Santa Barbara.

The four parks, around the crossroads
From Monte Stella in the north-east to the Parco delle Cave in the south-west: the positions are those of the page Parks.
Satellite · the area
The places in the inventory, on the ground
The whole area, from the racecourses in the north to Baggio in the south-west. The dots are the places in the inventory that have coordinates: {{ contaLuoghi }}. The record of each is in Streets.

In flight
The stadium seen from a drone
Maps show the ground from above and still; videos show it in motion. Two flights over the stadium, with the towers, the roof and the forecourts around it.
Historic maps
Before 1923, and after
Until 1923 San Siro, Trenno and Baggio were municipalities of their own, outside Milan. For those years the city plans are no use: the crossroads is looked for in the cadastres and military maps. From 1923 the area enters Milan’s mapping.

Three centuries of maps, to scale
The same thresholds as the diagram above and the page Sources, placed on the timeline at their true distance. In red 1923: before it the area’s maps are cadastres and military surveys, after it the maps of Milan come in.

What this page rests on
Every fact is checked against at least two independent sources and, where one exists, the official source.
Two independent sources
Dates, measurements and names go through at least two sources that do not copy each other. Where it exists, we go to the original: the deed, the archive, the body that owns it. What appears in only one place waits.
One version only
If two sources disagree, the original document prevails. If even that is not enough, only the part they agree on is written: the year, for example, instead of the day.
Updated every day
The press review and calendar are updated every day. Everything else changes when a new document turns up, and then it changes everywhere at once.
From the community
Many memories, family photographs and tips come from people who live here, writing to the Facebook page. They are published only if the sender agrees. How to take part: Community.
Everything traceable
Sources are listed above and on the page Sources, with archive, shelfmark and terms of use.
No interpretation passed off as fact
An approximate figure stays approximate, a project stays a project until construction starts, and whatever does not add up stays out. The criteria are in Method.
