Green space, from the crossroads westwards
From the crossroads, via Novara leads west to four parks: Trenno, Monte Stella, Boscoincittà and the Parco delle Cave. Together they make more than three hundred hectares of public green space. Here each one with its size and dates, and below them the area’s sports centres.

Parco Agricolo Sud Milano
Three parks inside a regional park
The Parco di Trenno, Boscoincittà and the Parco delle Cave are part of the Parco Agricolo Sud Milano, a regional agricultural and metropolitan-belt park established by regional law no. 24 of 1990. Boscoincittà is also one of its Punto Parco information points, at Cascina San Romano.

The park links the Ticino system to the Adda system. Since 2022, under regional law no. 29, it is run by the Ente Parco Agricolo Sud Milano.

Monte Stella is measured in height: 45 metres above the plain. The areas are those of the City of Milan.

The park to come, at the Piazza d’Armi
A kilometre south of the crossroads, behind the Santa Barbara barracks, the Piazza d’Armi of Baggio is a disused military area of about 424,000 m². The protocol of 23 December 2025 between the City and Invimit sets aside about 80% of the area as a public park and protects the Bosco delle averle, about 1.7 hectares in the north-west part. The park design will be chosen through a public competition, in agreement with the Soprintendenza; the new green space links to the Parco delle Cave, Trenno and Boscoincittà.

Monte Stella, Boscoincittà, Linterno
The hill made from wartime rubble, told by Giancarlo Consonni, town planner and co-director of the Archivio Piero Bottoni. Then Boscoincittà, the woodland Italia Nostra has been planting since 1974 along via Novara, in the videos of the Centro Forestazione Urbana: the Centre’s work and the park’s fiftieth anniversary, celebrated on 21 September 2024. Finally Cascina Linterno in the Parco delle Cave, with the house linked to Petrarch, in the videos of the Amici Cascina Linterno association.
